Yeovil is a town in Somerset with a diverse ancient history, from the Paleolithic to the Roman eras, including an old Roman road leading to Dorchester, a rich medieval history, to becoming an important defence industry town during World War II. Today Yeovil is known as a market town, but at heart this is still a country town accessible to the beautiful countryside; and with wonderful open spaces within the town. The Yeovil Country Park, which incorporates an area called Ninesprings, constitutes the largest country park in South Somerset. This 20 acre site lies on the Yeovil Sands formed millions of years ago. The park contains woodland and springs that feed small streams and ponds where swans and other animals have found habitats.
